The Republican party likes to characterize itself that it is the home of conservative values. Now it is clear that is difficult to define all who participate in a party. It is even worse with the Trump supporters. The press frequently characterizes some core group as the base. I submit that they get it wrong. Your core has to be able to carry you over the finish line - so it is more than some group of radical (possibly even rabid) mouthy people. A good many of those people don't vote, they just blowhard.
But that isn't what this article is about...
If you watch closely, you discover that many of the so called conservatives cannot be conservative. Rebels, but not conservative. I have encountered a number of men with shoulder length hair (or longer). I am guessing that during the late '60's these clowns were complaining bitterly about the hippies.
What about those who drive gas guzzlers? This group thinks that we should just use all fossil fuels until the earth is dead from pollution. What is conservative about that? Of course, we can make the opposite case about the alleged liberals that support the environment. They are in essence being conservative.
The protectors of life - are only the protectors of some life. They are quick to go to war and to put people to death - neither of which is a truly conservative action.
The list goes on, you get the idea. The term is basically useless in politics (and the same can probably be said for the liberal term).
